Star Anise Essential Oil

Star Anise essential oil is extracted from the seeds of the Star Anise plant (Illicium Verum) which is native to northeastern Vietnam and Southwestern China. Star Anise has traditionally been used to help with rheumatism and to aid digestion. Star Anise essential oil has a powerfully strong and sweet scent that is very similar to black liquorice.

Star Anise essential oil should not be used during pregnancy, or with children under 5 years old. The oil should be used carefully as it has effects on the circulatory system.

Star Anise essential oil can be used in low concentrations for massage oils. One or two drops only should be combined with a carrier oil. Patch test for allergy before use on the skin. Star Anise essential oil can also be a powerful component in cooking. A few drops of Star Anise can also be added to a diffuser or scent to add a powerful top note.
